After following the GCT-Finals over the last few days (and the Sinquefield-Cup) I wondered about one question concerning time-controls. Before formulating the question I want to share my arguments: 1. For spectators classical games can sometimes be very boring when there are some very long thinks. 2. spectators love time scrambles, but everyone hates actually flagging. 3. Long think wrong think. Especially in the GCT as far as i remember, most of the times there were long thinks the resulting moves were inaccurate. My question: Why dont we play with some really stupid delays(or at least experiment with it). I mean delays like: G/0 d60 (for every move you have exactly 60 seconds, no more) G/15 d60 (the same but you do have some time to think for longer in some key positions, but not many) G/30 d60 (the same but with a little bit more time) G/30 d30 +30 after move 40 I would love to see some incredibly unusual time controls, what do you think?
